How do you improve digital wellbeing across multiple cultural regions?

CONTEXT

Fauna & Flora is one of the world's oldest conservation organisations, working since 1903 to protect threatened species and ecosystems. While headquartered in Cambridge, UK, their team operates across more than 19 countries through a globally distributed structure. To prioritise the wellbeing of their employees, Fauna & Flora has partnered with Mind over Tech, a leading workplace training partner that elevates performance through digital habits.

CHALLENGE

Working across distributed cultures and timezones can easily disrupt focus and erode work life boundaries, as well as a sense of connection with colleagues. While Fauna & Flora already had a robust wellbeing initiative, they needed a way to tackle the challenges presented by digital overwhelm in a more directly way. It was essential for this process to be inclusive of people across the many countries and cultures that make up the organisation.

SOLUTION

We ran a company-wide pilot event with the aim to build a case for a bigger programme. The resulting impact report helped secure a two year funding grant by demonstrating the ROI through a dramatic increase in confidence to apply digital wellbeing strategies.

We then worked collaboratively with the global wellbeing lead to develop a strategic partnership over a two year period. This included an integrated programme of sessions across different teams, regions with live translation into multiple languages. We also delivered leadership training and a train the trainer programme.

IMPACT

130%

Our impact reports measured a 130% increase in confidence from staff in applying tools that increase their digital wellbeing.

100's

The train the trainer programme created 20 Digital Habits Champions who formed practicing communities across two large global regions, and captured the insights from 100's of experiments ran into stories that were shared throughout the organisation.

The digital habits training got endorsement from the CEO who joined sessions to empower individuals to set healthy boundaries and be intentional in their tech use.

“From conceptualisation to implementation Mind over Tech were professional, responsive and committed to tailoring the program to fit Fauna & Flora’s needs and organisational culture.”
